A hotel under construction in San Diego had an explosion some time yesterday afternoon. Officials said that a gas or mechanical failure lead to the explosion in the construction portion of the hotel. Workers said that more than four of the floors of the hotel were damaged. 14 Workers were injured in the blast that shook the hotel. Three of the workers that were injured are now in critical condition at a local hospital.

Officials are currently looking through all of the construction area trying to rule out all possibilities. By standers said that all they saw was smoke pouring out of the building, but it looked like the building didn’t burn.

The three workers still in the hospital are in the burn unit of the hospital waiting to see how bad their condition is. The police will release information once they know exactly how the workers in the hospital are doing.
