Definity Micro-bubble Contrasting Agent Linked to Cardiac Arrest

12:53 am

Definity (Perflutren Lipid Microsphere) is a micro-bubble contrasting agent used in cardiograms that has recently been linked to death and serious, potentially fatal cardiopulmonary reactions.  After 11 reported deaths, the FDA has asked the manufacturers of the ultrasound micro-bubbles, Perflutren, to add a warning to the product.

Four of the eleven reported deaths resulted from cardiac arrests which occurred during or within 30 minutes of infusion of the contrast agent and the majority of all reported non-fatal reactions also occurred in this time frame.  The requested product warning would emphasize the risk for serious, life-threatening side effects including cardiac arrest and other cardiopulmonary reactions with unstable angina, acute myocardial infarction, respiratory failure, or recent worsening congestive heart failure.

If you or a loved one has suffered from a side effect after having an echocardiogram, please contact a micro-bubble lawsuit as you may be entitled to compensation.
