Domestic violence homicides are up in 2010 from last year, according to the Orlando Sentinel. This comes from statistics that are compiled from six different counties in central Florida.
According to officials, 25 people were killed in Central Florida in domestic violence cases and although the total numbers of murders are down in the area, domestic violence cases have increased.
Some factors that are said to be contributing to this increase is a high unemployment rate which can lead to financial issues and stress. Also, the easy availability to weapons contributes to this disturbing fact.
The three counties that are most effected in the increase are Orange, Volusia and Lake counties. Some counties have seen a double in numbers since last year.
