The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has voluntarily issued a food product recall of Alfalfa sprouts due to possible Salmonella contamination.
The recall of retail size and bulk alfalfa sprouts was issued by Living Foods Inc. after a bag of the sprouts tested positive for salmonella contamination. The recall was done for precautionary measures and there has not been any reports of illness at this time.
The alfalfa was distributed to retail stores and food service facilities throughout the state of Michigan. Consumers are urged to discard the potentially dangerous sprouts.
The recalled products have the Sell By date of 10/2/2010 and are labeled with Living Food Inc.
