A worker suffered a back injury after being involved in a workplace accident in Maine that occurred when stairs collapsed on top of him.
According to authorities, the accident occurred as the man was working to replace the basement floor of a home. The owner tied up the staircase so that the men had room to work underneath. The tie then broke and collapsed onto the man.
When emergency crews arrived to the scene, the man was conscious and alert, but complained of back pain and was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital in order to be treated.
The man was employed by RD Concrete works located in Sanford and it has been said that officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be conducting an investigation into the accident.
